Structure of Neural Codes
What is the language of neurons? Understanding how neurons encode
information is central to understanding the computational processes
and representational structures in the visual system. Using single
electrode recording and multielectrode microarray (Utah Bionic
array) recording technologies,
we are studying how neurons encode information as an individual
and as an ensemble. In collaboration with Robert Kass and Antony
Brockwell in statistics, we are
exploring data-mining and statistical analysis techniques to explore the
information encoded in neurons and seek ways to decode these
information.
