Perceptual organization and object recognition in context
-- ventral stream visual processing.
The analysis of form involves multiple stages in perceptual
organization and object recognition along the ventral visual pathway.
What are the computational principles and neural mechanisms underlying
perceptual organization and object recognition? How do they interact?
How are they affected by other global scene factors?
We have been studying the computational methods and the neurophysiology
of perceptual organization in the early visual cortex. Now, we
are starting to explore the role of scene context in object recognition.
