Researcher
- I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the
Center for the Neural Basis of
Cognition, working with
Jay
McClelland. I am also doing some work with
Jonathan
Cohen.
- My curriculum vitae is available
electronically in HTML, PostScript, and PDF formats.
- I received my PhD in
Cognitive Science and
Computer Science from the
University of California, San
Diego (UCSD). My thesis advisor was
Gary Cottrell.
- My research interests include artificial intelligence, machine
learning, and cognitive modeling using connectionist techniques.
I am particularly interested in modeling "high level" cognitive
processes using "low level" artificial
neural network models. My current
research is focused on connectionist models of rule guided
behavior and learning from direct instruction.
- My office is
116B
in the basement of the
Mellon
Institute.
- I plan to attend a number of technical conferences this year,
including:
- I am a member of several professional organizations, including:
- I am always searching for research funding from such
organizations as:
- I maintain a short list of other WWW
sites related to my research.
- I taught the
Introduction
to Parallel Distributed Processing course in the
Carnegie Mellon University
Department of Psychology
during the Spring of 1999.
- I organized the
Cognitive Science 200 Seminar
during Spring, 1997. This seminar focused on the book,
Mind
as Motion: Explorations in the Dynamics of Cognition
- I have collected together some introductory materials on
using
LaTeX
2e, focusing particularly on the software environment found
in the UCSD Computer Science
Department.
- I once gave a brief tutorial on
UNIX|STAT.
The
slides
for this talk, in GNU Zipped PostScript format are available
online.
